Sew Deadly – Issue 46

Marcy’s Musings

In THE LONG STITCH GOODNIGHT, Amanda Lee tells about my cross-stitching a picture for my mother based on the painting Boulevard of Broken Dreams, by Gottfried Helnwein. The painting features Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Humphrey Bogart, and James Dean. Since THE LONG STITCH GOODNIGHT was published in April, readers have been writing Amanda to find out where they can get a copy of the Boulevard of Broken Dreams cross-stitch pattern. Unfortunately, if such a pattern exists, I have been unable to find it.

If you’d like to duplicate the pattern, I suggest you buy a print of the painting in the size you’d like to cross-stitch. If you can’t find just the right size, you can always reduce or enlarge it. Then use a cross-stitch pattern making software–such as, PC Stitch,  HobbyWare, or Stoik–to convert the image to a cross-stitch pattern.

If you do either run across the pattern or make one using my above suggestion, please take a photo and share it with us! We’d love to see it!
