Killer Cakes – Issue 17

Posted on Dec 06 2010

I have been really bad about keeping up this blog post! In fact, the last time I posted was just prior to the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the premier sugar art event hosted by Kerry Vincent.

The cake to the left is the Grand Prize Winner of the 2010 Mansions and Monasteries theme. The cake was created by Flora Aghababyan of Nevada. For all the 2010 top prize winners, visit the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show website and click the arrows above the photographs to see photos of the other cakes with the decorators’ names and states.

Site Spotlight: River Street Sweets

Gayle and her family just returned fromĀ a Thanksgiving vacation on Tybee Island, GA. Of course, they spent quite a bit of time in Savannah, too; and you can’t be in Paula Deen’s hometown without enjoying a few sweet treats. The Trent family paid more than one visit to River Street Sweets during their stay, and Gayle has already placed a holiday order.

If you find yourself too busy to cook in the next couple of weeks but want something to give as a gift or to take to a gathering, check out River Street Sweets. They have pralines, fudge, divinity, pound cakes, caramel apples, and pecan pies. Tower and basket gifts are sure to delight that hard-to-buy-for person on your list.
